PostSubject: Props and Costumes Needed for June Event!   Sat May 04, 2013 5:58 pm

Greetings and Hallucinations to All!!

It's that time again, for Plot to put up our "Wish List" of all the crap we have to try and get together by the upcoming event! If you see any of these items but do not have the cash to pick them up, please message me ASAP and tell me where I can find them if they're local to Atlanta and we will figure out how to get down there. I know some (especially the tent) are going to be pricer than our normal el-cheapo prop calls.

1) Hexagonal Gazebo - ideally, we would like one like this that looks kinda like a pagoda:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-Hexagon-Outdoor-Patio-Gazebo-Tent-Waterproof-Chocolate-Brown-/171033125434?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d25e623a

I saw an EZ-Up version of this at Big Lots 2-3 years ago but when I got paid they were sold out and never got any more into stock. The one I saw was $169, some online are slightly cheaper and some are upwards of $300. we are looking to keep the price in the $100 to $200 range if we are going to reimburse you for it. if you have it to spare and want to make a donation for a crap ton of Kickits that is fine too, feel free to go nuts if you wish. either way, we will throw in Kickits for the "finder's fee" even if we reimburse you. Smile

we realize this one is a big expensive prop request, but it is absolutely vital that we have this if you guys want to figure out how to bring back the dead, as this will become the "Resurrection Tent" for future events. mainly I am posting this because I hate paying a boatload of shipping if we can find it local or if somebody out there knows how to make something along these lines with PVC framework or whatnot. I personally don't have the skills or tools to make such a thing, though I can sew the coverings for the walls easily enough. the challenge for a homemade roof is waterproofing sadly. premade items come already waterproofed, and it's one less thing I have to worry about.

2) we need something to use as the Rez altar that we can throw a painted covering over that is easily portable. it needs to be able to support the weight of any player who might eventually need to lay on top of it for resurrection. other than that, any of the options below would work, or something along these lines. if anybody already has one that they are willing to donate to the cause please post here ASAP so that nobody runs out and buys one. now that we are coming into summer it should be easier to find lawnchairs and the like. the most important thing is that it should be collapsible, easily transportable, relatively light weight, and long enough for the majority of players to lay down on flat on their backs.

3) Monster Town needs as much Oriental flavored clothing as it can get over the next few events. ideally, if we could get our hands on a dozen or so martial arts Gi tops that would take care of the mens' costuming. any colors are fine, large and extra large sizes are ideal as they can always be belted for a smaller person. sometimes those can be found at thrift stores and the like, or at garage sales and such. if you seen one for a few bucks here or there please grab them up for MT stock costuming. as for the ladies, anything with a Kimono feel or oriental patterned fabric is fine, even if it's just a shirt or vest or even a bathrobe. if it can pass for oriental garb, please grab it and we'll find a use for it even if we have to alter it slightly. again, the bigger sizes are ideal as we can always put an Obi with it to belt it in. Smile

4) if anyone has a good cast iron oriental style teapot and warmer, even just a loaner prop is fine, preferably with cups and a tray as well, we will be needing to do a traditional Japaneses Tea Ceremony if/when the Emperor agrees to enter trade negotiations. we have an NPC who is familiar with the Ceremony and can perform it, we just need the props because those dang cast iron pots are pricey. you might luck into finding one at a thrift store, but I fear that is unlikely.

5) I need a plastic mannequin head and liquid latex in order to do a couple of masks and props for this next event. Ren knows how to do it, but we won't be able to get the supplies until at least mid month and we have to get the stuff ASAP in order to get it all done, dry, and painted in time. Smile

I think that's it at this time. If we come across any other needs we'll start up in a new thread. Smile
Thanks in advance guys! If nothing else, multiple sets of eyes searching always helps!!

I've got a solid lead on a Military stretcher for the Rez Altar. Give me a few more days to see what solidifies.

Here is a list of Asian themed items we have in our closet. Most are Japanese inspired, but we do have a few Chinese items as well (not sure what you're going for)

Items we can donate:
Kimonos: Lavendar, wine (solid), Teal print, pink print (might have a few others)
2 red Obi sashes
2 ninja costumes (black and purple)

Items we can loan:
Cast Iron tea set (2 cast iron cups, and 6 porcelain)
Asian dolls
Asian Fans
Red/black Chinese gi costume (Ranma)
Brown/black Chinese gi costume (Ryoga)
White/Blue Chinese monk costume (Mousse)
Hakama (pants) in grey and red
Red/gold chinese dress
Other random kimono/vests/sashes

Priscilla,

Thank you SO very much!! The Sheng Tai culture is a cross between Feudal Japan and Empirial China, essentially, with aspects and mythos taken from both real world cultures, so either one will work nicely. We found a cheap tea pot set, so we are ok on the tea pot but it only has 4 cups, so if you could bring the extra cups at least that would be wonderful!

I just sent you a PM on Facebook about the male costuming loaner options. Smile

I think we are ok on fans, and I would hate for the dolls to get broken, so I think we are ok on those. Anything loaned will of course garner Kickits and be returned intact. We keep loaner stuff in a separate area from the rest of Monster Town stuff.

Thanks so much!! You guys are amazing!!
